Online GCSE Religious Studies Tutor in London

One-to-one support with beliefs, ethics and evaluation answers, £30 per lesson

Religious Studies has a reputation as an easy GCSE until a student meets the 12-mark evaluate question. Our online GCSE Religious Studies tutor helps students in London and across the UK turn what they know about beliefs and teachings into answers that argue, weigh up and conclude.

Most RS marks come from two skills: explaining religious teachings accurately, and evaluating a statement from more than one point of view. Lessons work on both, using your school's chosen religions and themes rather than a generic syllabus.

Lessons happen online, one to one, so there is no travel and timing fits around school. Your first class is free.

What does online GCSE Religious Studies tutoring include?

Our GCSE Religious Studies tutoring covers the beliefs and practices of the religions your child studies, the ethical and philosophical themes on the second paper, and the written technique each question type needs. It is one to one and follows your exam board.

Beliefs and teachings

Students learn the key beliefs of each religion well enough to explain them in their own words, which is what the 4 and 6 mark questions reward.

Practices

Worship, festivals, pilgrimage and the role of religion in the community, taught with the differences between and within traditions.

Themes and ethics

Topics such as relationships and families, religion and life, peace and conflict, and crime and punishment, with religious and non-religious responses to each.

Sources of authority

We build a short bank of scripture and teachings the student can quote accurately and, more importantly, apply to the question.

Evaluation writing

The tutor models how to develop arguments on both sides, link them to the statement and reach a conclusion that follows from the reasoning.

Timed practice

Exam-style questions are marked live against the board's mark scheme, with spelling, punctuation and grammar checked on the questions that carry those marks.

Which GCSE Religious Studies exam boards do we support?

We support AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Eduqas Religious Studies, including routes for faith schools such as Catholic Christianity. The structure differs a lot between boards, so lessons are planned around the exact specification and options your child sits.

Exam boardSpecificationHow it is assessedWhat the tutor focuses on

Who is GCSE Religious Studies tutoring for?

GCSE RS tutoring suits Year 10 and Year 11 students taking the full course, resit students, and students at faith schools following a Catholic or Christianity-focused route. It also suits students who write plenty but struggle to reach the higher bands on evaluation.

Students who describe instead of evaluate

A common pattern: long answers full of facts that never weigh one view against another. The tutor teaches a structure that keeps the argument moving.

Students learning an unfamiliar religion

Studying a faith with no personal connection can feel abstract. We break it into beliefs, practices and key terms so it becomes manageable.

Faith school students

Catholic Christianity and St Mark's Gospel routes need precise knowledge of teachings. Lessons follow those options directly.

Resit and Year 11 students

With limited time, lessons go straight to the questions and topics losing the most marks in recent mocks or the previous result.

How do online GCSE RS lessons work?

Online GCSE RS lessons are live video sessions where the tutor and student share a screen and digital whiteboard. You send an enquiry, we arrange a free class with an RS tutor, and regular lessons begin if the fit is right for your child.

  1. Tell us what your child needs

Share the year group, exam board, the religions and themes studied, and where marks are being lost.

  2. We look at the details

We may ask about recent mock papers, teacher feedback or the target grade so the tutor can prepare.

  3. Free one-to-one class

The tutor meets the student online, discusses the course and usually works through one question together. A parent is welcome to join.

  4. Agree on regular lessons

If the class went well, we arrange lesson times around school and other commitments.

  5. Learn, write and review

Lessons mix explanation of teachings with planning and writing answers, followed by live feedback against the mark scheme.

Why choose us for GCSE Religious Studies tutoring?

Parents pick us for GCSE Religious Studies because lessons are one to one, the price is published up front, the first class is free, and tutors teach beliefs even-handedly. Teaching follows the exact board and options, including the 2026 AQA format.

Balanced teaching

Tutors present religious and non-religious views fairly, which is what the exam asks for and what families expect.

Up to date with the format

Practice questions reflect the current AQA structure, so students are not rehearsing a question type that no longer appears.

Free first class

One free class per family with no commitment, so you can see the tutor's approach before paying.

Do you offer GCSE RS tutoring across London and the UK?

Yes. Every GCSE RS lesson is online, so we tutor students in any London borough and anywhere in the UK. There is no centre to travel to, which saves time on school evenings and opens up a wider choice of tutors for your board.

That wider choice matters in RS more than most subjects, because a tutor needs to know the particular religions and themes your school picked.

Online GCSE tutoring near you

You can see every London neighbourhood listed in our areas we cover.

Frequently asked questions about GCSE Religious Studies tutoring

How much does GCSE Religious Studies tutoring cost?

GCSE Religious Studies tutoring costs £30 per lesson with us. Your first one-to-one class is free and carries no obligation, and we confirm lesson length and tutor availability when you enquire.

Is GCSE Religious Studies the same as GCSE RE?

Yes, for exam purposes. Schools often call the lesson RE (Religious Education), while the exam boards call the GCSE Religious Studies or RS. Our tutoring covers the GCSE qualification, whichever name your school uses.

We are not religious. Does that matter?

No. The GCSE tests knowledge of beliefs and the ability to evaluate arguments, not personal faith. Tutors teach the content even-handedly, and students from any background, religious or not, can do very well.

Which religions and themes can you help with?

We support the religions and themes your school has chosen, such as Christianity, Catholic Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism or Sikhism, alongside ethical and philosophical themes. Share your board and options and lessons follow them exactly.

Can you help with the 12-mark evaluate question?

Yes. It is the biggest single question in each AQA section, and the extended evaluation questions on other boards play the same role. Lessons practise building arguments on both sides, adding religious and non-religious views, and reaching a justified conclusion.

Do you know about the 2026 changes to AQA Religious Studies?

Yes. From summer 2026 each AQA section follows a 1, 1, 4, 6 and 12 mark pattern, and the 6-mark question rewards applying a source of wisdom or authority as well as naming it. Practice questions in lessons use the new format.

Can my child resit GCSE Religious Studies in November?

No. November resits only cover English Language and Maths, so Religious Studies is resat in the summer exam series. Lessons can start whenever suits you.

How do I book a free RS class?

Use the booking form or message us on WhatsApp with the year group, exam board and the areas your child finds hardest. We then arrange a free one-to-one class with a Religious Studies tutor.
